Get ready for a fresh, fast-paced take on Old School RuneScape! The first-ever community-wide event, Grid Master, has arrived, and it’s completely changing the game for the next four weeks. Running from October 15th to November 12th, 2025, this event drops every player onto a level playing field as a fresh Ironman, armed with massively boosted rates and game-changing relics that will have you flying through levels.

This isn't just another League. With no area restrictions, the entire world of Gielinor is your playground from day one. This guide will give you the essential strategy to get a powerful start, pick the right relics, and dominate the grid.

What is OSRS Grid Master? A Full Breakdown

At its heart, Grid Master is a bingo-style event played on a 7x7 grid. Each of the 49 squares holds a unique task, ranging from simple skilling goals like "Chop maple logs" to epic PvM challenges like "Complete the Corrupted Gauntlet".

Here are the core mechanics you need to know:

  • Fresh Ironman Start: Everyone begins as a solo Ironman in Lumbridge, ensuring a fair start for all.
  • Massively Boosted Rates: You begin with a 5x XP multiplier that can be increased even further. You also get an 8x drop rate on eligible unique items, a 5x slayer points multiplier, and 5x faster Farming ticks.
  • Game-Changing Relics: Completing tasks grants powerful rewards, including fan-favorite relics from past Leagues that offer incredible advantages.
  • Rows and Columns Are Key: The biggest rewards come from completing a full row or column. These "line bonuses" can grant massive global XP boosts or permanently increase your combat power.
  • Grid Points for Cosmetics: Each completed task awards Grid Points. After the event, you can spend these points in the main game to purchase exclusive cosmetic rewards from Nevet in Varrock Square.

Getting a Blazing Fast Start: Your First Hour

Your initial choices can save you hours of grinding down the line. Follow this proven strategy to get all three starting tool relics unlocked in record time.

  1. Complete the Tutorial: As soon as you log in, finish the short Grid Master tutorial. This completes the center tile of your grid and gives you your first big choice.
  2. Pick Power Miner or Lumberjack: You'll be offered one of three tool relics. It is crucial to choose Power Miner or Lumberjack first. These allow you to gather resources for the other relic unlocks much faster than Animal Wrangler.
  3. Unlock the Second Tool:
    • If you chose Power Miner, head to a mining spot (the Varlamore gem crabs are excellent) and push to 40 Mining. Mine a single gold ore to complete the "Mine gold ore" task, which then allows you to unlock Lumberjack.
    • If you chose Lumberjack, find some trees (north of Lumbridge or near Seers' Village) and get to 45 Woodcutting. Chop a maple log to complete the "Chop maple logs" task, letting you unlock Power Miner.
  4. Unlock Animal Wrangler: Now that you have the first two tools, completing the task for the third is trivial. With all three gathering relics unlocked, your resource gathering and skilling speed will skyrocket.

The Must-Have Relics: Your Path to Power

Beyond the starting tools, some grid tasks unlock relics so powerful they will define your entire playthrough. Prioritizing these will create a snowball effect, making every other task easier.

  • Golden God (Obtain Valuables in Varlamore): This is the single most impactful relic in the event. Requiring only 50 Thieving, it gives you a chance to not consume an item during High-Level Alchemy while boosting the GP gained. Combined with unlimited shop stocks, this translates to infinite money. You can buy runes, alch them for profit, and fund 99 in all buyable skills like Construction, Prayer, and Fletching with ease.
  • Production Prodigy (Gain 30k from one Alch spell): This relic lets you process entire inventories of items in a single action. Imagine fletching 27 longbows instantly or cooking 28 sharks in one tick. It's an insane accelerator for all artisan skills and provides a +12 invisible skill boost.
  • Gatherer / Craftsman / Combatant: These relics are unlocked by completing their respective grid tasks. Each allows you to choose three skills in their category. When you train one skill, the other two receive 50% of the XP gained.
    • Smart Craftsman Build: Choose Construction (very fast with Golden God), Runecraft (very slow), and Smithing (resource intensive). You can get 99 Runecraft passively while building your Player-Owned House.
    • Smart Gatherer Build: Choose Thieving (very fast), Agility (very slow), and Slayer (combat-based). You'll gain massive passive Agility and Slayer levels while pickpocketing.
