OSRS Starting Quests Guide for New Members (P2P)

This guide highlights essential quests to prioritize as a new P2P player.

(This guide assumes basic F2P quests like Cook's Assistant and Rune Mysteries are completed. Requirements listed are for starting the quest unless otherwise noted.)

Quests for Essential Unlocks

These quests unlock core skills, items, or game mechanics vital for P2P progression.

  • Druidic Ritual:
    • Requires: None.
    • Unlocks: Herblore Skill. Absolutely fundamental for making potions (Stat boosts, Prayer, Antifire, etc.). Do this immediately.
  • Animal Magnetism:
    • Requires: Priest in Peril, The Restless Ghost, Ernest the Chicken, 18 Slayer, 19 Crafting, 30 Ranged, 31 Prayer, 35 Woodcutting.
    • Unlocks: Ava's Devices (Attractor/Accumulator/Assembler). Crucial for Ranged training/combat as they automatically pick up most ammunition.
  • Priest in Peril:
    • Requires: None (but involves combat).
    • Unlocks: Access to Morytania. Essential for countless quests, Slayer tasks, Achievement Diaries, and activities like Barrows and Temple Trekking.
  • Death Plateau:
    • Requires: None.
    • Unlocks: Ability to wear Climbing Boots. Necessary for accessing Trollheim and GWD. Also unlocks specific Slayer tasks.
  • Troll Stronghold:
    • Requires: Death Plateau.
    • Unlocks: Access to Trollheim, required for God Wars Dungeon, Eadgar's Ruse, and more.
  • Lost City:
    • Requires: 31 Crafting, 36 Woodcutting.
    • Unlocks: Access to Zanaris (including Market, Cosmic Altar, Chinchompas) and the ability to wield Dragon Daggers and Longswords.
  • Fairy Tale I - Growing Pains:
    • Requires: Lost City, Nature Spirit (requires Priest in Peril, Restless Ghost).
    • Leads To: Starting Fairy Tale II - Cure a Queen to unlock the Fairy Ring transportation network after speaking to the Fairy Godfather. Do this early for vastly improved travel.

Quests for Major XP Boosts

These quests provide significant XP rewards, allowing you to skip slow early-level grinding.

  • Waterfall Quest:
    • Requires: None.
    • Rewards: 13,750 Attack XP & 13,750 Strength XP (Takes you from level 1 to 30 in both skills instantly). Do this ASAP on a new account.
  • The Grand Tree:
    • Requires: None (but combat involved).
    • Rewards: 18,400 Attack XP, 7,900 Agility XP, 2,150 Magic XP. Unlocks Gnome Glider network.
  • Tree Gnome Village:
    • Requires: None (but combat involved).
    • Rewards: 11,450 Attack XP. Unlocks Spirit Tree network.
  • Fight Arena:
    • Requires: None (but combat involved).
    • Rewards: 12,175 Attack XP, 2,000 Thieving XP.
  • Witch's House:
    • Requires: None (but combat involved).
    • Rewards: 6,325 Hitpoints XP. A significant early HP boost.

Quests for Useful Items & Access

  • Elemental Workshop I & II:
    • Requires: 20 Mining, 20 Smithing, 20 Crafting (EW1); 30 Smithing, 20 Magic (EW2 - requires starting EW1).
    • Unlocks: Elemental Shield (good magic defence), Mind Shield/Helmet (magic accuracy).
  • Family Crest:
    • Requires: 40 Mining, 40 Smithing, 59 Magic, 40 Crafting.
    • Unlocks: Steel Gauntlets, which can be enchanted into Cooking Gauntlets (reduce burn rate), Goldsmith Gauntlets (more XP smithing gold), or Chaos Gauntlets (boost Bolt spell damage).
  • Horror from the Deep:
    • Requires: 35 Agility.
    • Unlocks: Unholy Book, Book of Balance, Holy Book. Excellent off-hand items providing Prayer bonus and Attack/Defence stats. Requires finding pages to complete.
  • Shilo Village:
    • Requires: Jungle Potion, 20 Crafting, 32 Agility, 34 Smithing.
    • Unlocks: Access to Shilo Village (Duradel Slayer master, gem rocks, bank, furnace) and Shilo Village Cart transport.
  • Dwarf Cannon:
    • Requires: None.
    • Unlocks: Ability to make and use the Dwarf Multicannon. Excellent for speeding up certain Slayer tasks and Ranged training.

  1. Unlock Skills: Druidic Ritual (Herblore), Rune Mysteries (Runecraft - optional early).
  2. Get Combat XP: Waterfall Quest, Fight Arena, Tree Gnome Village, The Grand Tree, Witch's House.
  3. Unlock Transport: Start Fairytale II (for Fairy Rings), The Grand Tree (Gnome Gliders), Plague City (Ardougne Teleport).
  4. Unlock Areas: Priest in Peril (Morytania), Death Plateau & Troll Stronghold (Trollheim).
