OSRS Vet'ion Guide: The Wilderness Skeleton Lord

Vet'ion is an undead skeletal lord who roams the deep Wilderness, a formidable boss known for his powerful area-of-effect attacks and his loyal hellhound companions. He presents a significant challenge for any adventurer, requiring focus, quick movement, and a powerful crush weapon.

This guide will break down his two-phase fight, the best strategies to defeat him, and how to manage the risk of his Wilderness territory.

Location and Getting There

  • Location: Vet'ion wanders the area around the Demonic Ruins, at level 32 Wilderness. This is a multi-combat area.
  • Getting There:
    • Annakarl Teleport: The fastest method, placing you nearby.
    • Burning Amulet: Teleport to the Lava Maze and run south.
  • Cal'varion: A much weaker, lower-level version named Cal'varion can be fought in a single-combat cave nearby. This is the recommended spot for solo players.

The Fight: A Two-Phase Battle

The fight against Vet'ion is a battle of endurance and awareness.

Phase 1: The Skeletal Form

In his first form, Vet'ion attacks with both Melee and Magic.

  • The Strategy: Use Protect from Magic. His magic attacks are more accurate and frequent than his melee.
  • Lightning Shockwave: This is his signature attack. He will charge up and unleash three rapid bolts of lightning in a large area around him. You must quickly run out of the affected area to avoid taking massive damage.
  • Skeleton Hellhounds: At 50% health, Vet'ion will become immune to damage and summon two powerful Skeleton Hellhounds. You must kill both of these hounds before you can damage Vet'ion again.

Phase 2: The Reborn Form

Once you defeat his first form, he will return as Vet'ion Reborn with full health for a second, identical phase. You must repeat the entire process: dodge lightning, kill the hounds at 50%, and finish him off.

Vet'ion is a skeletal creature and is extremely weak to Crush weapons.

  • The 3-Item Setup: It is highly recommended to only bring three valuable items to minimize your risk to PKers.
  • Weapon:
    • Best: Viggora's Chainmace. This weapon is tailor-made for this fight, receiving a massive 50% damage and accuracy boost in the Wilderness.
    • Great: Ursine Chainmace (the upgraded version).
    • Budget: A simple Dragon Mace is a very effective and cheap option.
  • Armour: Wear your best defensive melee gear that you are willing to risk. A Slayer Helmet can be used on a skeleton or hellhound task. A Monk's Robe top and bottom are great free options for their prayer bonus.
  • Escape Plan: Always have a Royal Seed Pod or teleport tablet for a quick escape.

The Rewards: Pickaxes and Rings

Vet'ion's drop table is highly sought after for its valuable uniques.

  • Dragon Pickaxe (1/256): A great drop rate for this essential tool.
  • Ring of the Gods (1/512): The best-in-slot ring for Prayer bonus, highly valued by players for prayer-intensive activities.
  • Vet'ion Jr. (1/2,000): Vet'ion's pet, which has two forms to match the boss.

Conclusion

Vet'ion is a tough and well-designed Wilderness boss. The fight requires constant movement to dodge his powerful lightning and a solid strategy for dealing with his hellhound minions. For players who can master the encounter and brave the Wilderness, the rewards are some of the most valuable in the game.
