OSRS Revenant Caves Guide: Location, Strategy & Loot (2025)
Brave the OSRS Revenant Caves! This guide covers location, entry fee, Revenant monsters, strategies, loot (Wilderness Weapons, Artefacts), and surviving PKers.
OSRS Revenant Caves Guide: Ghosts, Gold & Glory!
Dare to enter the haunted depths of the Wilderness? The Revenant Caves, stretching from level 17 to 40 Wilderness, are home to the spectral Revenants – ghostly remnants of creatures slain long ago. These ethereal foes guard immense wealth, including powerful Wilderness Weapons and valuable Ancient Artefacts, making the caves one of OSRS's most popular and profitable, yet perilous, PvM destinations.
This guide covers everything you need to know about navigating the Revenant Caves, battling the Revenants themselves, understanding their lucrative loot table, and crucially, surviving the ever-present threat of player killers.
Location & Entry
- Location: Wilderness, Levels 17-40.
- Entrances: Multiple cave entrances exist:
- Low Level (Lv 17 Wildy): East of Dark Warriors' Fortress.
- Mid Level (Lv 29 Wildy): North of Bandit Camp.
- High Level (Lv 40 Wildy): South-east of Lava Maze.
- Chasm (Lv 35 Wildy): East of Obelisk, one-way drop-in near middle.
- Teleports:
- Revenant Cave Teleport scroll (goes to High Level entrance).
- Burning Amulet (Lava Maze/Bandit Camp teleports are nearby).
- Wilderness Obelisks (Level 35 Obelisk is close).
- Entry Fee: 100,000 GP required to enter (paid from bank). Must be repaid if you die inside.
- Combat Type: Singles-plus - PvP takes priority. A PKer can attack you while you're fighting a Revenant.
The Revenants: Undead Foes
Revenants range from weak Imps (Level 7) to formidable Dragons (Level 135).
- Combat Style: Use all three styles (Melee, Ranged, Magic). They adapt based on your prayers and defensive stats.
- High Accuracy: Hit very accurately without protection.
- Magic Attack: Can freeze you briefly and splash to hit multiple players on the same tile.
- Healing: Can heal themselves below 50% HP (limited uses per Revenant).
- Weakness: Undead. Salve Amulet (e) or (ei) provides a significant damage boost (20%).
- Wilderness Weapons: Craw's Bow, Viggora's Chainmace, Thammaron's Sceptre deal +50% Damage/Accuracy against them when charged.
Essential Gear: Bracelet of Ethereum
- Effect: Reduces damage taken from Revenants by 75%. Consumes 1 Revenant Ether charge per attack blocked.
- Charging: Use Revenant Ether (guaranteed drop from Revs). Start with ~100 charges; dropped ether replenishes it automatically (toggle setting).
- Mandatory: Fighting Revenants without a charged bracelet is extremely inefficient and dangerous due to their high accuracy.
- Death: Always lost on death, even if protected.
Strategy: Kill Fast, Stay Alert
- Gear Up: Equip Salve Amulet (ei). Choose your best DPS option - ideally a charged Wilderness Weapon. Ranged (Craw's/Webweaver Bow, MSB(i) w/ Rune Arrows) or Melee (Viggora's/Ursine Chainmace) are most common. Wear Bracelet of Ethereum (charged). Fill remaining slots with affordable risk gear (Blessed D'hide, Monk Robes) prioritizing Magic Defence.
- Choose Your Spot: Lower level caves (south end) have weaker Revs but less loot potential and fewer PKers. Higher level caves (north end) have stronger Revs (Knights, Dragons) with much better loot but attract far more PKers.
- Kill Revenants: Focus DPS. Kill efficiently to maximize profit before PKers arrive.
- Looting: Use a Looting Bag. Be quick. High-value Artefact drops are the main goal.
- PKer Defence:
- ALWAYS keep Protect Item and Protect from Magic active (reduces Tele Block duration, blocks freezes).
- Watch your minimap constantly. Use a scout account outside if possible.
- Have a one-click teleport (Royal Seed Pod, Slayer Ring, Dragonstone Jewellery) ready if below Lvl 30 Wilderness.
- Know escape routes (Agility shortcuts - 75/89 are useful, southern exits).
- Bring Saradomin Brews/Restores for tanking/escaping. Blighted supplies dropped by Revs help sustain trips.
- Consider freeze spells (Ice Barrage/Blitz) to escape PKers.
Revenant Loot: Why Risk It?
The potential rewards are why these caves are so popular:
- Ancient Artefacts: Tradeable items (Emblem, Medallion, Statuette, etc.) sold to the Emblem Trader (wanders the caves) for large sums (up to millions of GP). These are ALWAYS lost on death, even if protected.
- Wilderness Weapons: Craw's Bow (u), Viggora's Chainmace (u), Thammaron's Sceptre (u). Very rare, worth multi-millions. Drop rate boosted significantly on a Revenant Slayer task and/or while skulled.
- Ancient Crystal: Component for POH Obelisk.
- Amulet of Avarice: Combines Salve (ei) and Glory effects BUT skulls you constantly. Boosts loot potential but massively increases risk. Notes drops.
- Standard Loot: High-value alchables, noted resources, runes, bolts, blighted supplies.
Skulling Bonus: Being skulled (e.g., via Amulet of Avarice or manually) increases the drop rate of most valuable items (~45% boost) but guarantees loss of all items on death.
Conclusion
The Revenant Caves offer some of the highest raw GP/hour potential in OSRS PvM, driven by the chance of hitting incredibly valuable unique drops. However, this comes at the cost of extreme risk due to constant PKer presence in a dangerous Wilderness environment. Success requires efficient killing methods, minimal gear risk, excellent situational awareness, and a solid escape plan. Enter prepared, stay vigilant, and may the RNG favour your hunt for ancient treasures!
