OSRS Royal Titans Guide: Ice & Fire Duo Boss Mayhem!

Grab a partner and prepare for an elemental clash! The Royal Titans, Eldric the Ice King and Branda the Fire Queen, offer a dynamic duo boss encounter deep within the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. This fight emphasizes teamwork, gear switches, and managing simultaneous threats.

This guide covers everything you need to know to conquer the Royal Titans: location, fight mechanics, phases, strategic tips for duos (and considerations for solo), and their unique elemental rewards.

Locating the Royal Arena

  • Location: Western part of the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon.
  • Fastest Travel:
    • Giantsoul Amulet: Teleports directly outside the entrance tunnel (rare drop from the bosses themselves).
    • Fairy Ring: Code AIQ, then run north-west.
    • Agility Shortcut (60 Agility): Tunnel west of the dungeon ladder provides quicker access from the entrance.
    • Other nearby teleports: Rat Pits minigame teleport, Port Sarim spirit tree, Explorer's Ring, Rimmington POH portal.
  • Instance: Duo-focused, but soloable. A second player can join until one titan is below 450 HP. Group Ironmen lose prestige if partnering outside their group.

Fight Overview: A Balancing Act

You'll face both Eldric (Ice) and Branda (Fire) simultaneously on a narrow strip of land between their domains. They each have 600 HP and share similar mechanics, but with opposing elements. The core challenge lies in managing both titans, their minions, and environmental hazards.

  • Combat Styles: Melee is primary DPS when they're close. Ranged is crucial for when they retreat. Magic is essential for dealing with elementals and clearing environmental hazards (walls).
  • Weakness: Slightly weaker to Crush, but strong weapons of other styles often outperform weaker crush options.
  • Ranged Accuracy Boost: When a Titan retreats out of melee range, your Ranged accuracy against them gets a massive +500% (6x) boost until they start moving back in. This also applies during their big Elemental Blast attack.
  • Key Goal: Keep both Titans' health relatively even, especially towards the end. Defeating one significantly empowers the other.

Titan Attacks & Mechanics

  • Stomp (Melee Range Only - Phase 1): Standard melee attack hitting the 3 rows in front. Block with Protect from Melee. Max hit ~26.
  • Icicle/Fire Walls: Rows of hazards form on the ground (4-tick warning). Standing on a forming tile prevents the hazard but deals ~12 damage.
    • Destroying Walls: Use the opposite element spell (Water Blast+ for Fire, Fire Blast+ for Ice). Hitting one hazard destroys adjacent ones too. This attack has no delay, allowing rapid clearing. Requires +70 Magic Attack Bonus for guaranteed hits.
  • Ice/Fire Elementals: Three elementals spawn per titan. They attack with melee and explode after a time, dealing 8-10 AoE damage.
    • Killing Elementals: Use the opposite element spell (Water Wave+ for Fire, Fire Wave+ for Ice). Spells hit in a 3x3 AoE during this fight only. Elementals take double damage from their opposing element. Requires +70 Magic Attack Bonus for guaranteed max hit one-shots.
    • Attack Speed Buff: Killing an elemental grants a 1-tick reduction to your next Magic spell cast delay, allowing rapid clearing.
  • Elemental Blast (Phase 2 Only): Both titans charge and blast the arena three times. One tile per blast remains safe. Deals up to 30 damage per blast if not on the safe tile.
  • Enrage (One Titan Defeated): If one Titan dies, the survivor becomes enraged:
    • Stomp attacks deal ~10 damage through Protect from Melee.
    • Elemental Blast safe spot is always on the furthest row from the enraged Titan.

The Fight: Phases & Strategy

Phase 1: Ranged & Melee Dance

  1. Opening: Titans start briefly in melee range. Rush in for an initial hit (Eldric is usually easier to reach).
  2. Ranged Phase: Titans retreat. Utilize the 6x Ranged accuracy boost. Attack whichever Titan is further away or focus fire as a duo.
  3. Walls & Elementals: Titans summon hazards. Prioritize:
    • Killing Elementals: Use opposite element spells (Water for Fire, Fire for Ice). Aim for the middle one to hit all three with AoE. +70 Magic Attack ensures one-shots.
    • Clearing Walls: Use opposite element spells if they block movement or safe zones. Standing on a forming wall prevents it but deals damage.
  4. Melee Phase: After ~20 seconds, Titans move into melee range. Switch to Melee weapons and use Protect from Melee. DPS hard.
  5. Repeat: Continue cycling between Ranged/Hazard management and Melee phases.
  6. Transition: When one Titan drops below 210 HP (35%), both move onto the platform permanently, starting Phase 2. Try to get both Titans close to this threshold before triggering Phase 2.

Solo Tip: Try to stagger their phases by staying far from one Titan as it moves into melee, delaying its arrival. This maximizes time where at least one is attackable with melee.

Phase 2: Close Quarters Chaos

  1. Positioning: Titans move to fixed positions at either end of the platform (3 rows each). Avoid standing where they land to prevent knockback damage.
  2. Attack Rotation: Titans generally sync attacks: Stomp -> Elementals -> Elemental Blast -> Repeat (can desync below 100 HP).
  3. Elemental Blast: Watch the ground carefully. Identify the single safe tile for each of the three blasts and move quickly. Ranged accuracy remains boosted during the charge and attack.
    • Melee During Blast: If the safe tile is 2 tiles away, you can step out, melee hit once, and step back between the 2nd and 3rd blast. If 3 tiles away, a Halberd can reach. Otherwise, use Ranged.
  4. Priority: DPS both Titans down. AVOID KILLING ONE TOO EARLY! Aim to defeat both within a few seconds of each other to prevent the enrage mechanic.
  5. Enrage Management (If necessary): If one dies early, be prepared for chip damage through Protect from Melee from the survivor, and restricted safe spots during Elemental Blast. Focus all DPS on the remaining Titan.

Looting: Eldric vs. Branda

Once both Titans fall, you have 18 seconds (30 ticks) to loot ONE of them before they respawn. Choose wisely based on the uniques you desire.

  • Loot Options:
    • Loot: Standard drop roll (2 primary rolls).
    • Sacrifice: Forfeits loot, doubles pet chance (1/3000 -> 1/1500).
    • Take Pages: Grants 10-18 Desiccated Pages (convertible to Burnt/Soaked/Soiled) and rolls only for tertiary drops (pet/clues).
  • Contribution Scaling (Duo): Loot quantity and unique drop rates scale with your damage dealt %. Higher contribution = more loot/better unique chance. Pet/clue rates are fixed per player.
  • Unique Drops:
    • Eldric (Ice): Ice Element Staff Crown, Deadeye Prayer Scroll.
    • Branda (Fire): Fire Element Staff Crown, Mystic Vigour Prayer Scroll.
    • Both: Giantsoul Amulet (Pre-roll, 1/16 base chance), Bran (Pet).
  • Standard Loot: Both drop runes, noted gear (battlestaves, rune items), materials (coal, gold ore, elemental orbs), herbs/seeds, prayer potions, and coins. Specific items vary slightly (e.g., Fire Battlestaff from Branda, Water from Eldric).

Conclusion

The Royal Titans provide a fun and engaging duo boss experience that tests communication, gear switching, and mechanic handling. Balancing damage between both giants while managing elementals and environmental hazards is key. Whether seeking the powerful new prayer scrolls, elemental staff upgrades, or just a challenging fight with a friend, Eldric and Branda offer a rewarding encounter for prepared adventurers.
