OSRS Fairy Ring Guide | How to Unlock & Use the Travel Network!
Unlock fast travel across OSRS! This guide explains how to unlock Fairy Rings via Fairy Tale Part II, how to use the codes, key locations, and why they're essential!
OSRS Fairy Ring Guide: Unlock Fast Travel Everywhere!
Hey adventurers! Tired of running everywhere in Gielinor? Wish you could just zap to locations for quests, clue scrolls, farm runs, or Slayer tasks? Then you absolutely NEED to unlock the Fairy Ring transportation network! It's one of the most useful travel systems in OSRS, and this guide will show you how to get access and start teleporting like a pro.
Fairy rings are so useful they're considered one of the Must-Have OSRS Quest Unlocks!
What Are Fairy Rings & Why Are They Awesome?
Fairy Rings are magical mushroom rings scattered all across the map. Once unlocked, you can step into one, dial in a specific three-letter code, and instantly teleport to another fairy ring corresponding to that code!
- Huge Network: There are dozens of fairy rings, reaching almost every major region and many out-of-the-way spots.
- Super Convenient: Often gets you much closer to your destination than standard teleports (Teleport Guide here). Great for clues, quests (Quest Guide), Slayer tasks (Slayer Guide), farming runs, and reaching obscure areas.
- Relatively Easy Unlock: Compared to some high-level teleports, getting basic fairy ring access isn't too hard quest-wise.
How to Unlock Fairy Rings (The Quests!)
You don't need to finish a super long quest line, just start one! Here's the path:
- Lost City: Complete this quest first. It grants access to the fairy city of Zanaris, where the main network hub is.
- Nature Spirit: Needed for the next step. Gives access to Mort Myre swamp (Morytania Guide).
- Fairy Tale Part I - Growing Pains: Complete this short quest. Starts in Zanaris.
- Fairy Tale Part II - Cure a Queen: You only need to START this quest! Talk to Martin the Master Gardener in Draynor Village, then head to Zanaris and speak to the Fairy Godfather. Follow his instructions until Fairy Nuff tells you to investigate the crop circle. At this point, you gain access to the Fairy Ring network! You DO NOT need to finish the rest of Fairy Tale Pt 2 (though the Magic Secateurs reward is nice for Farming).
IMPORTANT: Staff Requirement!
- Initially, to use any fairy ring (even the one in Zanaris), you MUST have a Dramen Staff or Lunar Staff equipped! Get Dramen Staff during Lost City. Lunar Staff requires Lunar Diplomacy quest (Lunar Guide).
- Going Staffless: Completing the Lumbridge & Draynor Elite Achievement Diary grants the ability to use fairy rings without needing a staff equipped. This is a fantastic QoL upgrade! Check our Lumby Diary Guide.
Using the Fairy Rings: Dialing the Code!
Using them is easy:
- Equip your Dramen or Lunar Staff (unless you have the Elite Diary done).
- Right-click a Fairy Ring and choose "Use" or "Last-Destination" (if you used it recently).
- An interface pops up with three rotating dials.
- Click the dials to spell out the three-letter code for your desired destination (e.g., C K R).
- Click "Teleport". Woosh!
Finding Codes:
- The OSRS Wiki has a full list of codes and locations.
- The RuneLite client has a built-in Fairy Ring helper plugin that lets you search by destination name or browse favorites! Super handy!
