More OSRS Poll 84 Goodness Arrives! Sire Rework, CoX Layouts & QoL!
Get ready, Scapers! Jagex just dropped the second batch of updates from Poll 84, bringing even more awesome Quality of Life (QoL) improvements we voted for. This batch touches everything from PvM bossing to skilling and even makes dying with chins less painful! Let's dive into the highlights.
Abyssal Sire Gets a Makeover (Finally Faster!)
Let's be honest, the Abyssal Sire boss fight could drag sometimes, especially during those long transition phases. Well, no more! Jagex has given Sire a much-needed speed boost:
- Faster Phases: The long Lung Phase is shorter now, keeping the action going!
- Hit 'Em Anytime: You can now target and hit Sire during his transition phases! Less standing around, more smashing!
- Faster Movement: Sire now moves at the same run speed as players – no more sluggish chasing.
- Vent Zapping Buff: High-level players (especially with that mighty Shadow staff) get a minimum hit (50% of max!) against the vents, making one-phasing them way more reliable. Demonbane weapons (like Arclight) can also one-shot vents now!
- Balancing Act: To keep it from being too easy, Sire got a slight HP buff (+25) and takes 50% reduced damage during transitions. Kills should still be faster overall though!
- Other Tweaks: Some annoying rocks in the middle are gone, and Scions/Spawns have less Defence, making them easier to deal with. Demonbane weapons also slap guarantee hits on the spawns now.
Time to head back to the Abyssal Nexus! Keep an eye out for our soon-to-be-updated Abyssal Sire Guide reflecting these changes.
Consistent CoX Runs? Yes Please! "Full" Layout Toggle
Raiders rejoice! Ever get tired of scouting Chambers of Xeric (CoX Guide) for the perfect layout, or wish you could practice the Challenge Mode (CM) path without the crazy difficulty? Now you can!
A new "Full" layout toggle has been added when creating a regular CoX raid. Choosing this forces the raid to generate with the exact same fixed room order as Challenge Mode, including all the main bosses and puzzles.
- Benefits:
- CM Practice: Learn the CM room flow and timings in a normal difficulty setting. Perfect for getting comfortable before tackling actual CMs!
- Speedrunning: Provides a consistent layout for normal CoX speedrun categories, removing the need for layout scouting.
- Learning Rooms: Practice specific room strategies reliably without layout randomness.
Important Note: This is regular CoX difficulty and loot. You won't get CM rewards or face the increased HP/enrage mechanics of actual Challenge Mode by using this toggle. It's purely for layout consistency.
Chinchompa Insurance! (Less Panic on Death)
Dying with a stack of expensive Chinchompas (especially Black Chins - Guide Here) used to be gut-wrenching! Thankfully, that's changed (for PvM deaths).
- Gravestone Safe: Unprotected Chinchompas now go to your gravestone/death storage like normal items if you die outside of PvP. Huge relief!
- Drop, Don't Destroy: The right-click option is now "Drop" instead of "Destroy", making misclicks less fatal. Dropped chins stay on the ground briefly.
- PvP Unchanged: Remember, this safety net does NOT apply to PvP deaths! If another player kills you, they still get your unprotected chins. Be careful in the Wildy!
New Varrock Agility Shortcut!
Tired of that long walk around Varrock Palace garden, especially for clue steps? Well, hop to it!
- Fence Hop: You can now hop the fence directly into/out of the Castle Garden.
- Requirements: Needs Level 35 Agility and completion of the Garden of Tranquillity quest. A nice little time saver from your Agility training!
Other Minor But Welcome Changes
- Imcando Hammers on Entrana: You can now take these statless utility hammers to the skill-focused island.
- Fishing Spot Fix: The reverted fix is back – moving fishing spots shouldn't awkwardly stall your character's movement anymore.
- Various small fixes for item usage from pouches, PvP safe zones in Ferox, Echo Boots reverting, UI adjustments, and typos.
PvP World Rota
The PvP rota has shifted to Period A. Check the official newspost if you need the specific world numbers for PvP/BH/LMS etc.
That wraps up the second batch of Poll 84! Some really nice QoL improvements here, especially the Sire rework and the CoX layout option. Keep an eye out for future updates!
