About The Writing's on the Wall

The Writing's on the Wall is a dark, hands-off detective quest from OSRS Quest Month, rated Intermediate and Short by Jagex. It opens in Land's End, where Betty tells you her father, former judge Jack Holland, has been murdered. Sergeant Hudson reluctantly lets you search the scene, where the body, a coded letter, bloodstains and a newspaper cutting about a killer called The Cutter start to build the case. From there, the trail runs through the people of Land's End, a house near the Tithe Farm and a jail where you risk getting caught, with new clues filling in more of the cipher key along the way. We will leave the ending out of this page so the mystery stays intact.

You need 22 Agility and 20 Thieving. There are no quest requirements and no required items. If your account is short on either skill, we can add the training to your order.
No. There are no enemies to defeat, so your combat level and gear do not matter. This one is all investigation.
Not if you order the service. Jagex gives very little direction here, and the clues have to be pieced together while you decode a cipher. Your trainer handles all of it.
It is a neck slot item with +10 Ranged Attack and no level requirement. You get one free from the quest, it is tradeable, and Sergeant Hudson sells more afterwards. It is a handy early upgrade, especially for Ironmen who have not reached 55 Slayer for a Necklace of Fangs.
