OSRS Song of the Elves Guide: Accessing Prifddinas

Song of the Elves (SotE) marks the epic conclusion to the Elf quest series, one of Old School RuneScape's longest and most involved storylines. Requirements

Prepare for the final chapter of the elf saga:

  • Skills (Non-Boostable): 70 Agility, 70 Construction, 70 Farming, 70 Herblore, 70 Hunter, 70 Mining, 70 Smithing, 70 Woodcutting.
  • Quests: Mourning's End Part II (and all its prerequisites including Regicide, Underground Pass, Biohazard, Plague City), Making History.
  • Combat: High combat (95+) strongly recommended for the final boss. 80+ Magic is particularly important.
  • Items: Extensive list needed throughout, including Steel Knight armour pieces, dyes, silk, Mourner gear, Runite bar, Limestone bricks, various tools (hammer, saw, pickaxe, axe, spade, pestle & mortar), runes, seeds, specific items for puzzles/rituals. (Refer to the detailed data dump list).

Quest Walkthrough Overview

(Note: This is a high-level summary. The Grand Library puzzles are complex and best followed with a detailed Wiki guide or video.)

  1. The Escape of Elena: Start by talking to Edmond in East Ardougne. King Lathas has imprisoned Elena. Disguise yourself as an Ardougne Knight (Steel armour + dyes/tabard). Infiltrate the castle dungeon, give Elena Sulphuric Acid (from her house cabinet) to escape via the sewer grate.
  2. Causing an Insurrection: Meet Elena and the Ardougne Resistance in the Rehnison basement (West Ardougne). Incite unrest by performing negative actions disguised as a Mourner (West Ardougne) and a Knight (East Ardougne) - setting fires, imposing taxes, etc. Aim for 80 converted resistance members.
  3. Battle of Ardougne: Fight waves of Mourners (West Ardougne basement instance), then Knights/Paladins (East Ardougne instance). King Lathas is captured and executed. You are knocked out and taken to the Iorwerth Camp.
  4. Arianwyn's Rescue & Plan: Cutscene: Lord Iorwerth reveals his plan to summon Seren. Arianwyn and rebels rescue you. Return to Lletya for a meeting revealing elven history and the plan to investigate Baxtorian Falls.
  5. Visiting Baxtorian Falls: Meet Arianwyn in the Waterfall Dungeon (requires rope). Solve the pillar puzzle using specific items (Nature Rune, Flowers/Irit, Black Knife/Dagger, Wine/Brew, Adamant Chainbody, Cabbage) based on riddles found by inspecting pillars. Frees Baxtorian from stone.
  6. Preparing to Enter Prifddinas: Back in Lletya, Baxtorian needs help finding lost elf lords. Plant an Elder Cadantine seed (given by Elena). Get a Crystal Seed from Baxtorian, have Eluned enchant it.
  7. Finding the Elders (Trahaearn & Amlodd):
    • Lady Trahaearn: Follow clue "South from the well". Go west from Lletya, navigate traps/forests to Underground Pass entrance cave. Clear blocked crevice south of well, find Trahaearn, repair her exoskeleton (Runite Bar + Hammer).
    • Lord Amlodd: Rub the enchanted Crystal Seed. Teleports you to Enchanted Valley. Speak to Mysterious Figure (Lord Amlodd).
  8. Inversion Potion: Harvest Elder Cadantine. Crush Old Crystal (from Arianwyn) with Pestle & Mortar. Combine Crystal Dust + Elder Cadantine + Vial of Water. Give potion to Arianwyn. Meeting decides you enter the library. Lord Amlodd teleports you.
  9. The Grand Library (Light Puzzles): (Highly Complex - Use Wiki/Video Guide)
    • Objective: Reactivate 8 seals (Ithell, Cadarn, Crwys, Amlodd, Meilyr, Hefin, Trahaearn, Iorwerth) by directing beams of light using mirrors and coloured crystals obtained from the central dispenser. The Seal of the Forgotten (centre) is already active.
    • Mechanics: Collect mirrors/crystals. Place mirrors on pillars to reflect light. Place crystals to change light colour (combining colours follows standard additive/subtractive rules). Navigate multiple floors.
    • Memories: Each activated seal reveals a memory of Seren's history. Seals can act as teleports once activated.
  10. Finding More Elders (Crwys & Hefin):
    • Lord Crwys: Follow clue "Trees of my home will call". Go SW from Iorwerth camp. Chop the dead tree NW of the lake.
    • Lady Hefin: Follow clue "Walk across water to the south". Go west then south from Lletya, cross tar lake stepping stones. Talk to Elf Hermit (Lady Hefin).
  11. Recovering the Orb of Light: Talk to Baxtorian in Lletya. Go to Iorwerth Camp cave. Kill Iorwerth Warrior & Archer. Loot Orb of Light from chest.
  12. Tracking Ysgawyn: Speak to Elena, then track Ysgawyn from Lletya entrance using inspectable rocks/mushrooms. Confront him; learn about Iestin (informant) and Iorwerth's impending attack on Lletya.
  13. The Attack on Lletya: Instance starts. Rescue two children from a burning building (search furniture). Cutscene: Arianwyn revealed as traitor, Ysgawyn killed by Essyllt. Fight Arianwyn (Lv 212): Uses Ranged. Pray Missiles. Dodge orange explosive arrows, re-activate prayer after purple disabling arrows.
  14. Finding Final Elders (Ithell & Meilyr): Funeral cutscene. Baxtorian reveals final clues.
    • Lady Ithell: Follow clue "Put my soul into my greatest work". Find 5 glowing symbols on Lletya buildings (inside/outside, upstairs/downstairs). Build statue in central plaza (Saw, Hammer, 8 Limestone Bricks). Kelyn becomes Lady Kelyn Ithell.
    • Lady Meilyr: Follow coordinate clue scroll from Baxtorian (SE of Tyras Camp -> Zul-Andra -> Prifddinas South Gate). Final step: Spin outside Underground Pass entrance (West Isafdar) with nothing equipped. Lady Ffion Meilyr appears.
  15. Sealing the Underground Pass: Meet Baxtorian/rebels at Dwarven Camp (Underground Pass). Place 7 Explosive Potions (given by Elena). Cutscene: Iorwerth/Arianwyn meeting. Defend the gate barricade for 4 minutes against Elf Warriors/Archers (multi-combat). Fight Essyllt (Lv 236): Uses Melee primarily. Shove attack stuns + high Ranged hit (Pray Missiles to block). Potion attack drains stats (Super Restore counters).
  16. Facing the Dark Lord (Fragment of Seren - Final Boss): After Essyllt, Iorwerth enters Temple of Light, frees Fragment of Seren. Arianwyn wounds Iorwerth. Fragment drags you into her realm.
    • Fight Fragment of Seren (Lv 494): Weak to Magic. Use Trident/Sang Staff/Shadow. Pray Missiles, stay out of melee range.
    • Specials (Cyclical):
      1. Teleport Player Nearby: Run away immediately to avoid melee hits.
      2. Clones: Attack the lighter-coloured clone to dispel others. More clones appear in later phases.
      3. Healing Crystals: Quickly destroy red crystals surrounding her (fast weapon switch like Blowpipe/Darts/Chins recommended, or Blood spells for healing). More crystals appear in later phases.
      4. Unavoidable Hit: Charges powerful attack dealing Max HP minus 1/3/5 damage (depending on phase). Must heal to full or above Max HP before it hits. Redemption/Phoenix Necklace strategies exist (see data dump).
    • Repeat cycle, healing/restoring as needed. Very high damage potential.
  17. Prifddinas Restored: Defeat Fragment. Cutscene: Dying Iorwerth laments Seren. Arianwyn leaves in guilt. Baxtorian welcomes you and Elena into the restored crystal city of Prifddinas.
