You need a Ghostspeak amulet and a Silver sickle. The sickle can be bought from the Grand Exchange or made with 18 Crafting (boostable). Basic combat gear and some food are recommended due to Ghasts rotting food (until you get the Druid Pouch).
No. You need to kill three Level 30 Ghasts. They are invisible until you use the Druid Pouch (obtained during the quest) on them. Using the blessed Silver Sickle is required to gather charges for the pouch, but you can switch weapons to kill the Ghasts.
You gain access to Mort Myre Swamp, the Nature Altar (restores prayer and boosts it slightly), the ability to fight Ghasts (useful for Prayer XP and drops), and Crafting, Defence, and Hitpoints XP. It's also a prerequisite for several other quests and the Morytania Diary.
Yes. Ironmen need 18 Crafting (boostable) to make the Silver sickle if they cannot buy a silver bar. All other steps are fully manual.
