You need to have completed Alfred Grimhand's Barcrawl. While not needed to start, 31 Prayer is required to access the upper floor of the Edgeville Monastery where one scorpion is found, and 70 Agility allows bypassing the need for a Dusty Key in Taverley Dungeon.
No items are needed to start; Thormac provides the Scorpion Cage. During the quest, you will need a Dusty Key to access part of Taverley Dungeon if you have under 70 Agility. An Anti-dragon shield and antipoison are highly recommended for navigating Taverley Dungeon safely.
