Frequently Asked Questions
It's a short Intermediate quest, typically taking 15-25 minutes. It involves some combat, travel around Varrock and to the Chaos Altar area, and dialogue.
You need to have completed Rune Mysteries and have 35 Runecraft (cannot be boosted) to start the quest. While not required, 42 Mining allows access to a shortcut route to the Chaos Altar via the Tunnel of Chaos, avoiding the Wilderness.
You need an Empty bowl, 15 Chaos runes, and access to the Chaos Altar (via talisman/tiara, Abyss, Temple of the Eye, or the quest shortcut once unlocked). Combat gear for fighting Level 32 Outlaws and a Level 47 King Roald is needed. A Bronze pickaxe is helpful for the shortcut (obtainable during).
You fight 5 Level 32 Outlaws (easy) and a mind-controlled King Roald (Level 47, also relatively easy). Basic combat gear is sufficient.
You can use a Chaos talisman/tiara via the Wilderness entrance, travel through the Abyss, use the Guardians of the Rift minigame portal, or unlock the Tunnel of Chaos shortcut during the quest (requires 42 Mining, speaks to Anna Jones east of Varrock).
The Beacon Ring is given by Zaff towards the end of the quest. You operate it during the fight with King Roald (when prompted) to summon Zaff, who then resolves the situation.
