Salve Amulet (e) & (ei) Guide OSRS
The Salve amulet is one of the strongest slot items when fighting undead. Understanding exactly what each version does — and when to use it over a Slayer helmet
— is key to maximizing DPS.
Effects at a Glance
- Salve amulet: +15% melee accuracy & damage vs undead
- Salve amulet (e): +20% melee accuracy & damage vs undead
- Salve amulet (i): +15% to melee, Ranged, and Magic vs undead
- Salve amulet (ei): +20% to melee, Ranged, and Magic vs undead
Note: Salve’s bonus does not stack with
Slayer helmet
/Black mask
, but does stack withVoid
set effects. For Magic/Ranged in multi-target situations,(ei)
applies its damage/accuracy bonus only to your primary target.
How to Get & Upgrade
1) Base Salve Amulet
- Unlock: Complete
Haunted Mine
. - Make it: Chisel a
Salve shard
from the crystal outcrop in the Abandoned Mine, then string it with aball of wool
(orString Jewellery
) to make aSalve amulet
. - Effect: +15% melee vs undead.
2) Enchant to Salve Amulet (e)
- Requirement: Complete Lair of Tarn Razorlor (miniquest), obtain Tarn’s diary.
- How: Use
Tarn’s diary
on a Salve amulet. - Effect: Upgrades to +20% melee vs undead.
3) Imbue to (i) or (ei)
- Where:
Nightmare Zone
(imbue menu), or buy a Scroll of Imbuing from Emir’s (PvP) Arena or Soul Wars and use it on the amulet. - Results:
- Imbue a base Salve → Salve amulet (i) = +15% to all styles vs undead.
- Imbue a Salve (e) → Salve amulet (ei) = +20% to all styles vs undead.
When to Use Salve vs Slayer Helm
- Use Salve (e)/(ei): Any time the target is undead and you’re not relying on Slayer helm’s all-style boost for non-undead tasks. Examples:
Vorkath
(undead dragon),Revenants
,Barrows
,Ankou
,Shades
. - Use Slayer helmet: On non-undead Slayer tasks, or if your amulet slot upgrade (e.g.,
Amulet of torture
/Anguish
) plus Slayer helm outperforms Salve for your setup. - Popular combos:
- Ranged at Vorkath:
Elite Void
+Salve (ei)
withDragon hunter crossbow
. - Melee Revenants:
Salve (ei)
with high-strength gear; remember the bonus applies to monsters, not players.
- Ranged at Vorkath:
Common Misconceptions
- “(ei) is for PvP” – Incorrect.
(ei)
is enchanted + imbued, i.e., it’s the 20% all-styles undead amulet. - “It works on Skeletal Wyverns” – It doesn’t. Wyverns are reanimated remains (not classed as undead) for this mechanic.
- “It stacks with Slayer helm” – It doesn’t. Choose Salve or Slayer helm on undead tasks, not both.
Quick Upgrade Checklist
- Finish
Haunted Mine
→ make a Salve amulet. - Do Lair of Tarn Razorlor → use Tarn’s diary → Salve (e).
- Imbue at Nightmare Zone or via Scroll of Imbuing → (i) or (ei) depending on which you imbue.
Conclusion
For undead targets, Salve (e)/(ei) is a DPS powerhouse — especially when paired with Void for ranged/magic or high-strength melee setups. Learn which enemies count as undead, swap intelligently with your Slayer helmet
, and you’ll see a clear boost to kill times and GP/hr.
